Impressive-sounding titles are easy to manufacture. Here are the buzzwords most commonly used to deceive buyers and what to ask instead.
If someone has 30 years of "combined" experience, meaning several people together have worked a sum total of 30 years, one would expect numerous valid accomplishments that can be verified easily. The statement on its own means nothing. What has been achieved? That's what counts.
This is one of the most misused titles in the dog-training world. It can mean someone leads training for hundreds of military handlers, or it can mean someone runs a one-person business and gives themselves the title. You can be a "Master Trainer" too it requires no certification.
This must be someone with genuine expertise, right? Ask them to prove it. People who are truly considered experts by others should be able to provide verifiable references and credentials from the companies or organizations that recognize them as such.
This title is normally associated with the person in charge of training in a Schutzhund, Ring, or other dog sport club, typically the helper or decoy who works protection dogs. There are many such clubs out there. Some are genuinely excellent, others are simply dues-collecting organizations with little real-world protection dog experience.
Membership in most clubs simply involves joining the organization and paying dues; it is in no way a measure of protection, dog training skill, or achievement. A quick look at our Protection Dog Sales team bios, a Google search of David Harris, and a look at our hundreds of YouTube training videos will tell you everything you need to know about us.
