Buyer Beware

What You Should
Be Aware Of

Don't Be a Victim. Research Your Protection Dog Company First.

Fancy titles and catchy company names are easy to manufacture. Real credentials and proven track records are not. Here's what to watch for before you buy.

Credentials Matter

Beware When Choosing a Family Protection Dog Company

First things first, make sure you do not confuse brags and fancy titles with real credentials and accomplishments. You've already searched the web. "CEO," "President," "Head Trainer" of a company with a catchy name that has sold hundreds of dogs… but be aware.

If You Can't Find Their Name That's Intentional

If you're struggling to find the trainer's actual name on their website, even on the "About Us" page, that's by design. Bad reputations are easily exposed, but only if you make the effort to research. Don't bother reading testimonials or references without first doing a simple Google search with the person's name. You might be surprised what you find.

Our personal breeding name is Prufenpuden and the founder and owner of Protection Dog Sales is David Harris. We have nothing to hide, and that transparency is intentional too.

Anyone can open a business with a catchy name, pay someone to build a state-of-the-art website, and target someone like you to buy a "fully trained level 3 dog" with many guarantees. Don't be a victim of such scams.

Pricing Reality

How Much Does a Trained Protection Dog Really Cost?

Investing a hundred thousand dollars in a dog is not a guarantee that the dog is worth that kind of money. I will be the first to tell you that a well-trained dog can certainly be expensive, but the fact is that truly highly valuable dogs are very rare.

The Honest Truth About High Price Tags

When you browse the web long enough, you will see many dogs priced in the six-figure range. The fact is that most are probably worth $8,000 to $60,000 at the most — if that. There are simply not that many highly trained dogs out there, and there are not that many trainers capable of training a dog of that caliber.

Quick Research Checklist
  • Google the trainer's full name before buying
  • Ask for verifiable credentials — not just titles
  • Look for documented training videos, not just photos
  • Be skeptical of unusually high prices with vague descriptions
  • Verify the company has a real physical address and documented worldwide placements
